What is Tavern
Tavern is a browser-based, isometric social sandbox — a little pixel-art world you share with everyone else online. Make a character, walk around a shared map, chat by text, talk over proximity voice, play quick competitive games, earn your way up, and own what you collect. It runs entirely in your browser: no download, no install.
The whole thing is one phrase: drink, play, own.
- Build — make your character, create your own rooms, form a group (a Crew), shape your corner of the world.
- Play — hang out in real time: chat, voice, emotes, friends, mini-games, the casino, just being somewhere with other people.
- Own — your cosmetics, pets and items are really yours, tradable for $TAV on Robinhood Chain — the token that powers the economy.
To play you connect an EVM wallet (MetaMask or Rabby) on Robinhood Chain — that’s your identity and your wallet for the in-world economy. You sign a quick message to log in; you never send funds just to play.
Follow Tavern on X →Getting started
1. Connect a wallet
Open Tavern and click connect. We support MetaMask and Rabby. Tavern runs on Robinhood Chain (chain ID 4663) — if your wallet is on another network it will ask you to add or switch to it. Don’t have a wallet yet? Install MetaMask or Rabby from your browser’s extension store, create a wallet, and come back.
2. Sign in (Sign-In with Ethereum)
After connecting, you sign a one-time login message. This is just a signature — it is NOT a transaction and moves no funds. It proves you control the wallet so the world knows who you are. Tavern never asks you to send ETH or tokens to log in.
3. Create your character
First time in, you pick a name and a look. Your character and appearance are saved to your wallet, so you’re the same person every time you return — on any device.
4. Learn the ropes
New players get a short, skippable intro that points out how to move, chat, travel, play, and use Coppers and $TAV, then drops you into the hub with a nudge toward whatever’s busiest right now. Returning players skip straight in.
The world
Tavern is a set of isometric rooms — hand-designed pixel-art spaces you and everyone else share live. You all see the same map, the same people, the same chat.
The hub & themed rooms
Everyone lands in the Plaza — the hub. From there you can travel to themed rooms, each with its own vibe:
- Plaza — the central meeting spot.
- Club — an upbeat dancefloor.
- Market — a trading-town feel.
- Garden — a calm, lush green space (with wildlife).
Getting around
- Move by clicking (or tapping) where you want to go — your character walks there.
- Quick-travel from the menu: every room is listed with a live player count so you can see where the action is, and one click takes you there.
- Portals in-world warp you to connected rooms when you step on them.
- Camera follows you; zoom in and out with the scroll wheel / trackpad or the on-screen + / − buttons.
Custom rooms
Want your own space? Create a room from the menu. Pick a template (the look/layout of an existing room type), give it a name, and choose who can get in.
Public or private
- Public rooms show up in quick-travel with a live count — anyone can drop by.
- Private rooms are hidden; only people with the code (or your invite) can join.
Codes & links
Every custom room gets a short join code like TAVERN-XXXX and a shareable link (tavernrh.com/r/CODE). Send the link to friends and they land straight in your room — even from outside the game.
You’re the host
As the creator you’re the host, with moderation controls over your room: you can mute a disruptive player (they can’t chat) or kick them out. The world stays fair because these powers are verified server-side — only the real host can use them.
Your home
Everyone gets a private home — your own personal space, separate from the shared rooms. Open the Travel menu and hit Go Home to drop into it any time. It’s private: only you (and friends you let in) can enter.
Furnish it
Buy furniture with Coppers in the Marketplace (see Progression & Coppers) — couches, beds, tables, plants, lamps and more. Everything you own goes into your furniture inventory, ready to place.
Decorate mode
Hit Edit Home to start arranging. Then it’s all drag-and-drop on your floor:
- Place an item from your inventory — it snaps to the grid, with a green/red preview showing whether it fits.
- Move a placed piece to a new spot, rotate it (for pieces that support turning), or remove it back into your inventory.
Your layout saves and persists — leave and come back and your home is exactly as you left it. Friends who visit see your décor too, so it’s worth making it yours.
Crews (groups & clans)
A Crew is your group — Tavern’s version of a guild or clan. Create one or join an existing one (each player is in one Crew at a time).
Identity
Every Crew has a unique [TAG] and an emblem colour. Your tag rides along on your name in-world and in lists, so people instantly see who you run with.
Roles
- Owner — runs the Crew; can promote/demote, kick, and disband.
- Officer — can invite people and accept join-requests.
- Member — reps the tag and joins the chat.
Crew chat
Members get a private group channel that reaches everyone in the Crew wherever they are in the world — coordinate, plan, or just hang.
Mini-games & competition
Jump into a quick competitive round whenever you want. Each game is its own arena room you can travel to:
- Coin Rush — grab more coins than anyone else before the clock runs out.
- Foot Race — first to hit every checkpoint and reach the finish wins.
- King of the Hill — hold the zone; the more time you control it, the higher you place.
How a round works
- Players gather, a short countdown starts, then the round locks — the racers are set.
- Arrive mid-round? You’ll spectate and automatically join the next round.
- Scores are tracked live and finalised when the round ends.
Leaderboards
Climb the boards across four scopes: Global, Weekly, Friends, and Crew (your group). Weekly resets each week so there’s always a fresh race to the top.
Progression & Coppers
Playing earns you XP (levels) and Coppers — Tavern’s in-game soft currency.
Earning Coppers
- Just being around and playing — you earn Coppers passively while you’re active in the world, roughly 100 an hour, paid out a little at a time.
- Placing well in mini-games.
- A daily login bonus just for showing up.
- Daily quests (like “play 3 rounds” or “visit 2 rooms”).
Passive income (just by playing)
While you’re actually in the world and doing things, Coppers trickle in on their own — every few minutes, no clicking required. It’s our way of rewarding the time you spend hanging out.
Levels, badges & achievements
XP raises your level, which unlocks higher-tier cosmetics. Hitting milestones grants achievements and badges that show off on your profile.
The Marketplace
Open the Marketplace from the menu — one place with a Buy tab and a Sell tab, so everything you trade lives together.
- Buy — spend Coppers on cosmetics everyone can see on your character (skins, auras, titles, pets, gear) and on furniture to decorate your home.
- Sell — sell items you own back for Coppers (you get a share of the price back), or list them on the $TAV player market for other players to buy — all from the same Sell tab.
Casino
Over in the main plaza you’ll find the Casino — a little building you can walk right up to. Step onto the entrance in front of it and the casino opens as a popup over the world. You never leave the room or load anywhere else; close it and you’re standing exactly where you were.
Everything inside is played with Coppers — Tavern’s in-game currency you earn just by playing (see Progression & Coppers). It’s Coppers-only and it’s here for fun — not real-money gambling. You can’t bet, win or lose real money or $TAV at the tables; Coppers stay inside the world.
Games
- Coin Flip — pick heads or tails and double your stake, or lose it.
- Slots — spin three reels of Tavern characters and icons; line up matches for a payout, with a rare jackpot on three logos.
- Blackjack — play a hand against the dealer: hit, stand or double down, get as close to 21 as you can without going over, and beat the dealer’s total. A natural blackjack pays extra.
More games are on the way.
Luck leaderboard
Land a big win and the whole world hears about it — a celebratory announcement flashes for everyone on a large multiplier. The casino’s Leaderboard tab tracks the biggest single wins, so there’s a board to climb. It’s all Coppers and server-tracked — bragging rights only.
Provably fair
Every result is decided by the server, never your browser — and it’s provably fair. Before you bet you’re shown a hash of the server’s secret seed (a commitment it can’t change after the fact). Afterwards you can reveal that seed and recompute any result yourself in the Provably Fair tab, so you can check nothing was rigged.
Stakes
There’s a small minimum bet, and you can only ever stake Coppers you actually have — your balance is the ceiling. The house keeps a small edge on every game (that’s how a casino works), so over time it’s a way to spend Coppers, not a way to farm them.
$TAV
$TAV is the on-chain token at the heart of Tavern’s economy — the hard currency you actually own in your wallet. Everything with real value attached — tips, the player marketplace, buying Coppers — is paid in $TAV. You will also want a little native ETH in your wallet for Robinhood Chain gas.
The network
Tavern runs on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer-2 (chain ID 4663). You pay with $TAV straight from your wallet, and network gas (in native ETH) is tiny. Your wallet adds the network the first time you connect; every transaction is public on the chain explorer.
Explore Robinhood Chain on Blockscout →What you can do with $TAV
- Tip & send $TAV to other players, wallet-to-wallet. Click a player and send — it goes straight from your wallet to theirs.
- Buy & sell cosmetics, pets and items on the player marketplace, priced in $TAV — it lives in the Sell tab of the Marketplace, right alongside buying with Coppers.
- Buy Coppers with $TAV — a direct wallet payment, credited the moment the network confirms it.
The marketplace
The $TAV player market is the Sell tab of the Marketplace — the same popup where you buy and sell for Coppers. List a cosmetic or pet for sale and it’s held in escrow in-game while it’s listed. A buyer pays in $TAV in a single transaction through Tavern’s settlement contract, which pays the seller and the fee together — all or nothing — and the item is released to them only after the network confirms the payment.
The marketplace fee is 2.5% of each sale, paid to the treasury to support the world; the remaining 97.5% goes straight to the seller. (The usual small network gas fee still applies on-chain.)
Coppers ⇄ $TAV conversion
Buying Coppers with $TAV is live: open Convert from your $TAV balance, pay from your wallet, and the Coppers land once the network confirms. The rate is 1,000 Coppers = 0.0002 $TAV.
Cashing out Coppers back to $TAV is coming soon, at the same rate both ways (so there’s no arbitrage loop) and with limits to keep the treasury healthy: a minimum of 1,000 Coppers, a maximum of 100,000 Coppers per cash-out, up to 200,000 Coppers per day per player, and a short cool-down between cash-outs. Your Coppers are never taken until a payout actually goes through.
$TAV — Tavern’s own token
The $TAV ERC-20 token on Robinhood Chain is live now, and the whole economy runs on it — prices, tips, the marketplace and conversion are all in $TAV. Network gas is still paid in a small amount of native ETH. Always verify the official contract address below; anything calling itself $TAV at another address is not ours.
The official $TAV contract address on Robinhood Chain. Verify this exact, case-sensitive address before you buy, approve or send anything — a token at any other address is not $TAV:

Ownership, items & rarity
Everything cosmetic you collect — skins, auras, titles, pets, gear — is yours. Equip it, show it off, and trade or sell it for $TAV whenever you like.
Wear it
Equipped cosmetics render live on your character for everyone to see: a tinted skin, a glowing aura, a flashy title by your name, a pet at your side, gear in hand. Your profile shows your level, badges and collection.
Rarity & flex
Items come in rarity tiers — the rarer the item, the bigger the flex. Rare cosmetics stand out in a crowd and hold their value on the marketplace.
Pets & wildlife
The world is alive. Ambient wildlife wanders the rooms — stags grazing the Garden, badgers, boar and the odd wolf — going about their business as you explore.
Pets
Get a pet of your own and it follows you around as a loyal companion, visible to other players. Pets are cosmetic collectibles you can earn, buy, and trade like any other item.
Safety & fair play
The world is fair
Tavern is server-authoritative: the server is the single source of truth. Scores, balances, item ownership, movement and economy are all decided and verified on the server — never trusted from a player’s browser. That means no cheating your score, your Coppers, or your inventory.
Stay in control
- Mute, block and report players who are being a problem.
- Hosts can mute or kick in their own rooms.
Your wallet, your keys
Risks & disclaimers
$TAV is a crypto asset with real, fluctuating value. Prices can go up or down sharply and quickly, and a token may become illiquid or worthless. Only buy or hold what you can afford to lose.
FAQ
Is Tavern free to play?
Yes. Connecting and playing is free — you only spend if you choose to (buying cosmetics with Coppers, or trading on the marketplace with $TAV). Signing in costs nothing.
What do I need to play?
A modern browser and an EVM wallet (MetaMask or Rabby) on Robinhood Chain. No download. Works on desktop and mobile.
Is it safe to connect my wallet?
Logging in is a signature only — no transaction, no funds moved. The game is non-custodial: it never holds your money for tips or trades, and you approve every payment yourself in your wallet.
Are there fees?
On-chain actions pay the usual small Robinhood Chain gas fee (in ETH). The marketplace adds a 2.5% fee on sales that supports the world — tips and player-to-player transfers are fee-free (beyond the network fee).
Do I need $TAV to play?
No. Connect a wallet, sign in, and you’re in — there’s no balance requirement of any kind. $TAV is only for the economy: buy Coppers with it, tip other players, and trade items on the marketplace. You can also earn it by selling items. You will just want a little native ETH for gas whenever you make an on-chain transaction.
How do I cash out?
Cashing out Coppers to $TAV is coming soon. When it opens you’ll find Cash out under Convert (from your $TAV balance): Coppers become real $TAV paid straight to your wallet at 1,000 Coppers = 0.0002 $TAV, with a minimum of 1,000 Coppers, a max of 100,000 per cash-out (200,000 per day) and a short cool-down, behind a “withdrawing real value” prompt. Today you can already earn $TAV by selling items on the player marketplace — buyers pay you wallet-to-wallet.
Where do I get a wallet?
Install MetaMask or Rabby from your browser’s extension store (or their app), create a wallet, then come back and connect. Tavern will prompt your wallet to add Robinhood Chain the first time.
